FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is Physical Therapy?

Physical therapy is a health care profession caring for conditions involving various systems such as Musculoskeletal, Neuromuscular, and Cardiopulmonary Systems. Through examination, the Physical Therapist makes an assessment of the condition. This is used to create an individualized plan of care to help the patient return to their prior level of function.

  • Do I need a doctor's referral to get Physical Therapy?

Yes and no, if you'd like to utilize your health insurance to help pay for your Physical Therapy and/or Massage Therapy sessions, you would need a referral from your doctor. However, you can still receive our services without a referral but please note that you will pay for the full hourly rate of the sessions.

  • How much will my treatment cost?

The cost of your treatment is based upon your insurance plan. See our Insurances tab to see what plans we work with. A Good Faith Estimate is available upon request which will inform you of any deductibles, coinsurances, or copays.

  • What are the ages that StayFIT can treat?

We can treat ages 5 to 95. If there is someone who is just outside this age range, please call one of our clinics and we can see what we can do to help. Our caring Therapists provide all treatments one on one with the patient. Children and elderly will be given proper attention to ensure they are getting the most out of their treatments.

  • What happens on my first visit?

We ask patients to arrive 30 minutes prior to the first scheduled appointment to complete some forms. Your Physical Therapist will then examine and evaluate your condition. From the assessment, your Therapist will create a plan of care that is individualized to your condition to help return you to your prior level of function or as close to it as possible.

  • What do I need to bring with me?

Please bring identification (such as a driver’s license or state ID), insurance card, and a list of current medications with the prescribed dosages.

  • How should I dress?

It is beneficial to wear comfortable and loose-fitting clothing that will allow you to expose the body parts we will treat. For instance, if we are treating your legs, please wear shorts. If we are treating your shoulder, please wear a loose fitting shirt that will allow us to access your shoulder.

  • How many sessions will I be having?

Each treatment plan is specific to all of our patients. Our Physical Therapy sessions at StayFIT are typically 60 minutes in duration working one on one with a Therapist. Each patient is given a customized Home Exercise Program (HEP) and provided with the education required to be successful independently beyond therapy.

  • How is PT different from OT (Occupational Therapy)?

Physical Therapy primarily focuses on functional mobility and movement, while Occupational Therapy focuses on self-care activities, such as toileting, dressing, and recreational activities. “Physical Therapy helps get you WHERE you want to go and Occupational Therapy helps you DO what you want to do once you get there.”
