Do you or someone you know experience numbness, burning, or tingling in the hands and feet? You may have a form of neuropathy, diabetic neuropathy, or carpal tunnel.

Late last year we started treating neuropathy and carpal tunnel with a new instrument called the Rebuilder!. Unlike medication which masks symptoms, the ReBuilder is an electrical device used in therapy that actually rebuilds damaged nerves in the hands and feet by repairing nerve wave lengths AND re-educates the surrounding muscles to work properly again.

We've successfully helped dozens of patients in both our Kapolei and Aiea clinic locations. The treatment is covered under most health insurances. Best part yet, there is basically no negative side effects. For carpal tunnel, we do not say this will reverse all signs of carpal tunnel or cure you from it completely, but it does work wonders on reducing the tingling and burning sensation in the hands.

In order to utilize your health insurance in covering physical thearpy, a doctor's referral is needed prescribing you for physical therapy. If you think you need physical therapy, the first step is to consult with your doctor. You can print the downloadable referral form here to bring to the doctor's office or simply specify you'd like your doctor to refer you to StayFIT Physical Therapy LLC. If your doctor faxes the referral directly to us, we will contact you that same day or the following to schedule an appointment for you. If the doctor gives you the referral, please call ahead to let us know you have a referral and to schedule a time to come in.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a doctor's referral to get physical therapy?
Yes and no, if you'd like to utilize your health insurance to help pay for your physical therapy and massage therapy sessions than you would need a referral from your doctor. However, you can still use our services without a referral but please note that you will pay for the full hourly rate and cost of the physical therapy/massage therapy sessions.

What ages can use physical therapy services at StayFIT?
We can treat ages 5 to 95. If there is someone who is just outside this age range, please call one of our clinics and we can see what we can do to help. Our caring therapists provides all treatments one on one with the patient. Children and elderly will be given proper attention to ensure they are getting the most out of their treatments.

What happens on my first visit?

We ask patients to arrive on their first visit 15 minutes prior to the scheduled appointment to complete paperwork. Your physical therapist will then examine and evaluate your condition. From the assessment, your therapist will create a plan of care that is individualized to your condition to help return you to your prior level of function or as close to it as possible.

What do I need to bring with me?

Please bring identification (such as a driver’s license), insurance card, and a list of current medications with the prescribed dosages.

It is beneficial to wear comfortable and loose-fitting clothing that will allow you to expose the body parts we will treat. For instance, if we are treating your legs, please wear shorts. If we are treating your shoulder, please wear a loose fitting shirt that will allow us to access your shoulder.

What is physical therapy?

Physical therapy is a health care profession caring for conditions involving various systems such as musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, and cardiopulmonary systems. Through examination and evaluation, the physical pherapist makes an assessment of the condition, which is used to create an individualized plan of care to help the patient resume participation at the patient’s prior level of function and to improve the patient’s quality of life to its fullest potential.

How is it different from Occupational Therapy (OT)?

Physical Therapy primarily focuses on functional mobility and movement, while occupational therapy focuses on self-care activities, such as toileting, dressing, and recreational activities. “Physical Therapy helps get you WHERE you want to go and Occupational Therapy helps you DO what you want to do once you get there.”

What happens beyond discharge?

Physical Therapy sessions at StayFIT are typically 60 minutes in duration working ONE-on-ONE with a therapist. Each patient is given a customized home exercise program (HEP) and provided with the education required to be successful independently beyond therapy.
